Horrible Experience
We placed an order for a sofa last November (2012) and were promised delivery in the Feb-March timeframe. In March, they called to let us know that the orders were backed up and it would take a few more weeks. This repeated over the next few months and we never got our Sofa delivered. I have heard that they have gone out of business. None of the phones at their store locations are working. I am not sure what to do at this point. Does anyone know how to contact the Owner or what can be done to recover the deposit amount.

Lets pull our resources!
If you are having trouble with delivery of furniture with Desi Living Innovations, let's pull our resources and do something about it. The owner is still planning on opening a store at the Yards in DC, and we can do something about that. I called the supposed furniture manufacturer they use "Max Homes" they do not have any open orders for Desi so how are they filling the orders now? It appears that Jeff has now gotten rid of his email address there is no way to communicate with him, all the phone numbers have been disconnected. Let's start writing to journalists based in DC who care about their community to see if they are willing to do a story about the history of this store and the mess they are leaving behind in MD.

Misleading the consumer
Desi Living Innovations took my 1700 deposit in November and is now unreachable. Instead of honestly communicating they the company will be filing bankruptcy they are instead misleading us into believing that they will process the order. THis is FALSE. BE HONEST. None of the numbers work, no one is reachable, the number used to contact me was a cell which no one will respond to. This is false and misleading to make consumer think you are working on something that you knowingly are not! Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General's office will be hearing from me. False claims
Similar situation to others. Ordered 2 couches, 2 chairs in October '12, with promise of delivery in 8-12 weeks. Called in January and was told they were running late and it would be 12-16 weeks. Was told in February it was in production and it would be 2-3 more weeks. Was told march 22nd that it wasn't yet. Now they are saying mid-late April. They rarely pick up the phone and never called to say furniture was delayed. Considering calling better business bureau given that others are experiencing the same thing. They offered free shipping and $100 discount but I'm really pissed anyway. I will lose my deposits if I back out. Thinking about calling my lawyer.

They never answer the phone!
Had a good experience ordering and receiving furniture (sofa), but now want to get information about ordering an area rug. Have tried calling both the Rockville and Pentagon Row Stores repeatedly during regular business hours to get voice mail over and over. When you leave a message, you don't get a response. They also close earlier than what is listed on their web site which was very frustrating and obnoxious. This is an odd way of doing business which I will have to take elsewhere. Too bad since they have great looking stuff and I am redoing my whole house! LB

Don't Believe Their Delivery Estimates
I ordered a sofa and ottoman on 30 September 2012. Today is 22 February 2013 and still no furniture. Now they are saying my order will arrive at their warehouse on 7 March 2013. The original delivery window was 12-weeks. The salesperson was extremely helpful when I was looking and when I placed my order; he even let me take home the store's only fabric sample so I could look at it with my home decor. But customer service since has been terrible. No one has ever called to explain the delays, and the store did not return phone messages (and rarely answered the phone during operating hours) or answer emails requesting a status of my order. I have been forced to go to the store on weekends to get information. The only reason they have given me for the delays is that the manufacturer has been delayed because of all the orders. I am sorry but I find this unacceptable and almost unbelievable. Ethan Allen doesn't take six months to deliver furniture; I should I spent the extra money and bought their sofa because I would be enjoying it now. DESI has deducted my $100 delivery fee but considering how long I have waited, the hassle, and the poor customer service, it is not worth it. I wish I had seen these reviews before I walked into the store. Never again, and I will not recommend this store to friends and family.

Dont shop here. Trust me.
The owner Jeff is the *** of the earth. Seems like a great guy at first until his lies catch up to him. They will tell you anything in the world to sell you something but the back end customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I made the mistake of giving them a second chance after a horrific experience with them once when I purchased a sofa that took 16 weeks to come in. I have called to cancel my order and have got the run around for days now. I dont know what else to do besides show up there un announced.

DO NOT EVER SHOP HERE
Do not buy anything from this store as they are unprofessional, rude and do not stick to their word with regard to furniture delivery dates. I purchased a leather sectional from this store in January 2012 and as of today (July 2012) I do not know when it will be delivered and when I contact the saleslady she was extremely rude and told me that I was unreasonable for asking for a delivery date for my furniture. She was yelling in the phone and then hung up on me. I sent a certified letter to the Corp. Office in Rockville, Md. It has been several days, so far they have not responded. Although the sales lady told me that the furniture is in this country (NC), she has no idea when the truck will deliver the furniture and REFUSED to give a date.

The sales rep in the store was nice, knowledgable and professional. However, I was told our couch would take 10-12 weeks for delivery. I heard nothing in the 12th week so I had to call the store. I was told it would be another 2 weeks. Nothing. I again had to call. I was then told it would be sometime after the New Year. Nothing. I had to call AGAIN. To make it worse, the owner, was non-chalant about it and did not really even seem to care. Finally after 17 weeks our couch is being delivered!! I would not order again from them as I lost total trust. And the fact that it was I who had to keep calling to check in made it even worse. Terrible customer service. It's almost like the owner is running a ponze scheme or something! How can it take 17 weeks to deliver a couch? Weird.

I had a horrible experience at Desi Furniture store in Rockville Maryland.
My first experience with this store was three years ago. I got a few pieces for my condo ( a sectional and a few tables and ottomans). Their stuff looks good but by the second year almost every piece fell apart. When my sectional collapsed for no reason I called the store and spoke with the manager (Paul). Although I was within the warranty period, it took them over 4 months to address the issue. my calls went unanswered and he was extremely rude. After a brief apology from paul I decided to give them another chance by buying some lamps. After full payment for the lamps they promised to have them ready in two weeks. Its been over 2.5 months and I still don't have the lamps. All my calls have gone unanswered and when I finally got through and asked for a refund (three weeks ago), I have not received it yet. I'm currently in a 9000 square foot home and in need of allot of furniture....but REFUSE to ever purchase anything from this store. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to never go close to this furniture store. I will make sure to tell everyone I know professionally and personally to never shop from this store. Azi

16 week, no chair.
The furniture is beautiful. When I ordered a chair, the sales agreement said it would be delivered in 8 to 10 weeks. After 16 weeks, it still had not arrived. Also, after the owner of the company called and agreed to give me a full refund, he decided to not keep his word and try to force me to take the chair. I would not just walk, I would run from this place. It is not worth the time to even walk through the door. I used to sell furniture, and I have never heard of something like this happening.

Desi Furniture - Lie after Lie and No Furniture
I purchased a couch from Desi in February 2011. I was told it would be delivered within 6 weeks. 12 weeks later, I still haven't received the couch. It is now mid-May 2011. I spent the last 6 weeks calling the store repeatedly, leaving voicemails, sending emails, etc to try and determine when the couch would be delivered. It is very hard to get anyone at Desi to even respond. When I did get a response, it would be a promise that the couch would be "rushed" and would arrive "next week". Every time I called to check, I was told "next week." They even tried to blame flooding and tornadoes in the south for their inability to get my furniture delivered on time. (Even though my furniture was due to arrive long before the flooding/tornadoes occurred). I finally canceled my order, and getting my money refunded has been a struggle. I was told a refund check would be mailed 6 days ago. When I called to follow up on the refund check today, I was told it was just mailed yesterday. Basically, shop at Desi if you like: - waiting 12+ weeks for "Italian" furniture (made in a factory in the southern US) to not arrive - getting told lie after lie by sales people and ownership - having a second unpaid full-time job trying to track down the furniture you paid for and getting someone at Desi to respond to your inquiries. Save yourself the hassle and shop somewhere else.

Desi Furniture - still no furniture after 4 months
I bought living room furniture from Desi Furniture in Rockville, MD and was told that it would be ready in 4-5 weeks. This was in October 2010 and now it's mid February 2011 and only last week I was contacted to schedule delivery for next week. The company never contacted me to let me know of a delay in delivery. I called them several times trying to get a delivery date and even asked to have the manager or owner call me which he never did. I wish they would have let me know that there could be delays because I would not have bought from them. I hope that the order is right and I'm happy with the product when it arrives finally.

DESI Living Innovations - NOT SO military discount
I went to Desi Living and found a couch that I wanted to purchase. After making several visits to the store, I quickly realized that the store offers a 10-15% discount on a regular basis. This grand sale price is more like their standard pricing. On the way into the store, they had a sign by each door that said "We support the military - 10% military discount". Being an active duty military member, it always makes me smile when a company says thank you to veterans by offering a discount for military members. HOWEVER, there is a catch! When I went to purchase the couch, which was of course on sale for their standard discount of 15%, I pulled out my military ID to show the sales rep that I am active duty military member to receive their advertised military discount. This is where the transaction soured; the sales rep informed me that I could not receive the military discount because of the standard storewide sale. Now, I know a military discount is not a requirement, nor do I expect stores to have one. However, when a store advertsies a military discount to draw service members through the door, I expect them to honor it. The store said they will not combine discounts. I am used to other stores that offer a military discount, not applying this benefit to clearance and/or final sale items, but not standard sale items. SO- in other words, the good news is basically everyone gets the military discount! The downside is Desi is saying thank you military men & women for your service, but no thank you! Until the store decides to honor this advertised military disocount, I will take my business elsewhere, while in the meantime informing my military brothers & sisters of this not so military discount.

The amazing back ordered fabric
My wife bought a Sofa from Desi in Rockville. The sofa was purchased in July and we are yet to receive it. We have been told a number of times that it is supposed to ship, then all of a sudden the fabric is on back order. Then something else comes up. We were told we were going to get a $100 credit put back on our credit card for the trouble. Since it has been a week and no refund we called again, and now they will mail me a check supposedly after delivery. I highly doubt they will ever send the check, they probably will just say their checks are on backorder! Our experience has been terrible and I would not recommend them to anyone! Report

DESI Office Furniture Delivered on time looks great
I spoke to the rep in the Pentagon City store, they emailed me a photo of the office pieces. I ordered off the photo, because all the measurements were perfect. I took a few weeks to get the furniture, I was told at lease 6 seeks, they told me staight, I appreciated the furniture early. They said they would hold the furniture in the warehouse if I could not accomidate the dates. I could so I took delivery. They were responsive and returned phone calls. The office sofa and chair were perfect, very pleases. I highly recommend these guys. Thanks

I ordered my couch at the same time as you and had the same run around. I actually received a call from a lady back in June, 2013 and she told me that Desi had gone out of business but that she was working on tracking down the open orders and hopefully scheduling delivery.
I spoke to her again in mid-July and she said my sofa was in North Carolina and she was trynig to figure out a way to get it delivered. I haven't received a call back from her yet. And I just tried to call her but her phone number wasn't working anymore.
As for getting your deppost back, if you paid with a credit card, you can dispute the charge with your credit card company, and they hopefully will give you the money back.
